Diet Calc Nutrition Food Calculator, Keep Track Reviews and Testimonials
Customer Rating: Summary: The next step in my "re-evolution". The Diet Calc is revolutionary! Comment: I first started my journey on Fitday.com and after 2 years of pretty intense tracking of my daily diet, exercise and lifestyle change, I found I was literally wearing out a path in the carpet on the way to my desktop computer.I lost 30 pounds in the process and arrived at a list of foods that are just great for me (that is the point of keeping track of everything) and suit my lifestyle.I knew I had to graduate to a handheld that was easy to read and durable. I read your reviews and decided on the Diet Calc.I was able to input my short list of foods under 'm' (example:myshake, myoatmeal, etc.)using the aggregate total from Fitday for each item I already have incorporated into my lifestyle. This enables me to find them within that list, choose the item, hit enter then save, and get to the totals, quickly. I then can see how I have done, so far, and can make the choices I need to make for the rest of the day. If there is a "magic bullet" to weight loss and control, this is it! I am well into losing the last 10 pounds.(Hint: if you track the carbs and the calories while making sure that you get enough fiber and calcium, the rest falls into place.)The one negative is that the Diet Calc doesn't track calcium.
Customer Rating: Summary: Easy to use Comment: I had one of these under the Nutri-Counter brand that I used for 4 years before the batteries died, when I decided just to buy a new one rather than replace them. The units are virtually identical, so I think only the name has changed. (In between I tried a CalorieSmart, which I hated and returned because it was too cumbersome and time-consuming to use - for example you have to enter the whole word for a food - and it has a big bump on the back so you can't even lay it down to use it, you have to hold it all the time). But the Dietcalc is flat and compact. It's easy to use in that you can enter one or more letters and it will instantly bring up the first choice beginning with that letter or combination of letters and from there you can scroll through items alphabetically. You can then select the item and change the quantity if necessary. This principle also works when adding new foods, so that if you find something similar to your new item, you can bring it up, enter the name for your new entry, change any or all of the values (calories, total fat, saturated fat, cholesterol, sodium, carbs, sugar, fiber, and protein), press save, and have your new item as a permanent addition. To save time, for meals or snacks I routinely consume, I like to enter all the components, like shreaded wheat, milk, and orange juice for breakfast, write down the totals, then make a new entry such as "BR" with my toal values, so that's all I have to enter every morning. You can also set goals in each catagory and the on-screen value will flash if you go over. And it has a balance button so you can see how many calories, etc., you have remaining before you reach the daily limits you've set. I'm mainly interested in controlling calories, fat, and sodium, and I've found it very helpful as an aid for staying at or under my goals for those. On the downside, you can't review the items you've entered - you only see the running totals for the day.
Customer Rating: Summary: Bill's Dietcalc Comment: I find the DietCalc was easy to use and user friendly. It keeps track of all the things I need for a balance diet and helps with calorie intake. Although I only just started using it, it has help me stay on track with my diet. I think the price I paid for it, is money well spent. I recomend this to any one who really wants to be in control of his/her diet and wants to be sure they are eating healthy.
Customer Rating: Summary: Keep Track of What You Enter Comment: I liked that this unit tracks all the essential nutrients, allows you to enter daily goals, and see balances. However, there is no way to determine what foods you have entered and which ones you have not, or whether the food you THOUGHT you entered actually went in. You should be able to pick a day and then scroll through the entries, but you can't. As a consequence, you still need to manually write down the numbers to make sure the unit saved them. Also, the 2000 entries are not helpful. I ended up manually entering about 80% of my foods. Use a good online tracker like Calorie King instead.
Customer Rating: Summary: Diet Calc Comment: Great Product, worth the money and it works as promised. The only shortfall is that there is no mechanism to see a complete list of everything you consumed that day. It totals up the calories and nutrition facts as you enter the items. It is mind opening to see the nutrition content totals for the day!! I would purchase this again, it is great!
