Summary: A product that works
Comment: I take 5 drugs that all cause sever constipation each 1 by themselves , all 5 , use your imagination. I was put on Miralax and am no longer constipated. This was 3 years ago, and I don't have to take it every day. This powder dissolves in water with a quick stir and you drink it. no taste no Oder it's like drinking water. this p.e.g. that is the active ingredient Is used in pet safe anti freeze and doesn't harm them at all. If you have chronic constipation ask your doctor about it and most will recommend it as a laxative that is not a laxative, It makes your intestine hold liquids and keeps the stool moving like normal. You will at times put out a prodigious amount of waste and it's all soft. using other "laxatives cause all kinds of problems. This one just makes your system work like it is normal. To start, take it once every day, then you will find an amount of doses you need to keep regular. it is not habit forming other than you won't have a sore rectum anymore. This stuff has been used by prescription for a long time and it was found to be safe and reliable. It does not cause diarrhea like regular laxatives. Everything is controlable. And you will be pleased at the ease you get back to regular results.

Summary: Miralax = Miracle for Adults (and older kids with a doc's ok)
Comment: Several years ago, we had a family member who was terminally ill, and in terrible pain. The docs knew that this person's time was short, and had prescribed very strong narcotics to ease the pain. unfortunately, strong narcotics also cause terrible, painful almost intractable constipation in no time, and ordinary over the counter medication cannot help. We tried everything available, from prescription laxatives to folk remedies, and the few things that helped had such strong side effects that the cure was worse than the condition.
Then, our pediatrician (knowing about everyone in the family) asked if we had heard of Miralax. Of course we hadn't, and he suggested that we call for a prescription, which we did. When we got the stuff, we were surprised because it looked like powdered nothing, and when mixed with a drink or soft food, it had no taste at all. But it worked! It's not like you can dance and cheer in the street over a laxative, but we sure felt like it. And it continued to work, without bad side effects, or bloating, pain, gas or any of the stuff that you expect from a laxative. Our relative had one less problem during the final months of life, and we were grateful.
A few years later, a child in the family was taking a medication that had some not very comfortable side effects. When the same pediatrician recommended Miralax, we were wary: it seemed awfully strong for a kid. But he said that the adult dose was okay for an older (young teen) child. Once again, it worked without any bad side effects.
Now that Miralax is over the counter, we keep a bottle in the house just in case anyone has a problem. (we call a doc for an okay when a kid is involved) It's safe, effective and has no bad side effects. What more could you want in any medication?

Summary: It really works!
Comment: I had heard about Miralax a few days before my hemorrhoid surgery, but was reluctant to try it because my post operation instructions said not to take anything that gives you the runs. Of course the pain medication gave me constipation, so going to the bathroom was excruciating! I finally tried the Miralax and it helped soften my stool without making it runny like other laxitives. I wish I had started taking it from the time of my surgery.

Summary: "A LIFE SAVER"
Comment: For years prior to the knowledge of Miralax, I fell victim to the more harsh laxatives (Ducolax, Senna, etc.)
I can honestly say dealing with constipation had me depressed and limited my activities due to taking the harsh laxatives as their effects were extremely unpredictable and intense.
Miralax was prescribed bymy doctor and I was told I could live on it for the rest of my life if necessary because it did not enter my body, it works only by drawing water to the colon. I have been on this product now for a year and a half with still great results. I take two capfuls late at night before bed and in the morning I wake up to at least two to three bms and they feel like normal ones at that. I even have a bm after lunch and sometimes dinner.
If you want something that works, and is safe, Miralax will prove positive.

Summary: A word of caution...
Comment: I will agree that this product works in the short-term. However, I would encourage all parents to google Miralax and the P.E.G. contained in it. I have a problem with physicians who discourage parents from doing any research on medications they recommend. Knowledge is power. I'm very thankful for doctors, but I'm not one to stick my head in the sand and close my eyes to other sources of information. As another person has commented on a review below, there is medical info. that overusing this product can cause Miralax toxicity and resulting complications.
I used this product with my daughter and it worked...I was told I could continue to use it long term. Due to my own research, I have chosen other alternatives for long-term solutions. (diet makes a huge difference) Good health to everyone.
